Tempus Alba

Tempus AlbaIn our winery we use grapes from our own vines grown in “La Alborada”, “El Retorno” and “San Antonio” vineyards. Together they amount to 270 acres (110 hectares), located in the privileged areas of Luján de Cuyo, Maipú and Tupungato. Their altitudes are from 2,600 to 3,950 feet (800 to 1,200 meters) asl.  The soils are alluvial, rocky, with good drainage and moderate fertility. The weather is mild and dry, with sunny days and cool nights; and with a wide thermal amplitude between daytime and night-time, thus contributing to an excellent tannin development and a very good colour and aroma concentration in our grapes. Activities such as pruning, cluster thinning, canopy management and hand-harvesting are performed by our own qualified crew.  This is the beginning of a story; the dawn puts an end to the darkness of the night and at the same time, it is the beginning of a new day full of light, energy and hope. This is the reason why in our winery we celebrate the “Time of the Dawn,” and this is also the reason for its name: “Tempus Alba.”

Tempus Alba Malbec 2009 – This Malbec was born as a result of a precise fermentation process control, a long maceration of 30 days and 8 months of ageing in oak barrels. (70% French, 30% American).  It has a deep violet colour typical of the Malbec wines, with excellent structure and soft tannins. Very well balanced, a long finish, and with a reminiscence of ripe fruits. Our oenologist highlights the intense plum and red fruit aromas with a hint of vanilla, chocolate and coffee.

Tempus Alba Tempranillo 2007 – This Tempranillo was born as a result of a precise fermentation process control, a long maceration of 28 days and 6 months of ageing in oak barrels. It has a dark red colour, with strong and complex aromas. Dark fruit flavours, soft attack, well-balanced, and with intense tannins typical of this variety. Our oenologist highlights the presence of cinnamon and a hint of vanilla marked by wood. With good finish, smooth and persistent.

Tempus Alba Merlot 2005 – This Merlot is a result of a precise fermentation process control, a maceration of 28 days with no oak ageing in order to preserve the fruit aromas and flavours. Our oenologist highlights the intense red fruit aromas and its complexity. Very balanced with soft, ripe tannins, with a good structure and a reminiscence of ripe plums and cassis.

Tempus Alba Pleno Reserve Blend 2006 – Tempus Pleno Reserve 2006 is a 50% Malbec – 50% Cabernet Sauvignon blend which, according to our oenologist, highlights the particular characteristics of the grapes that gave birth to this wine. These grapes come from our own vineyards in Maipú and Luján de Cuyo. With a deep, intense red colour and black notes, we highlight in this wine intense aromas of very ripe red fruits and red pepper with vanilla and chocolate hints marked by 15 months of ageing in new oak. Delightful fruit-forward structure, with ripe tannins and a very harmonious blend of flavors.

Tempus Alba Pleno Reserva del Enologo 2003 – This is a 95% Malbec – 5% Tempranillo blend the grapes come from our own vineyards in Maipú and Tupungato. With a deep, intense red colour and purple notes, we highlight in this wine intense aromas of red fruits with vanilla and chocolate notes marked by twenty four months of ageing in new oak barrels. Excellent structure, with ripe tannins and a very long and harmonious finish.

Tempus Alba VERO Malbec 2007 – Tempus Alba VERO is the result of the best selected Malbec clones that were carefully propagated to shed light on the challenge of finding the true Malbec Argentino.  Aged for 18 months in French oak.  “Brooding aromas of black cherry, licorice, graphite and chocolate mint. Concentrated, dense and sweet but with a good spine of acidity to support the black cherry, licorice and bitter chocolate flavors. Very broad but not heavy. Noble tannins spread out on the suave, long finish, which features fine-grained tannins and lingering chocolatey oak.” 91 points, Stephen Tanzer.
