CarinaE

CarinaE Vinedos & BodegaCarinaE (Latin, “from Carina”).   Carina is a constellation of the southern sky, probably the most beautiful.  It is situated in the Milky Way and contains a multitude of stars and other splendours.  Carina accompanies our vineyards every night during the harvest season.

Brigitte and Philippe Subra created CarinaE Viñedos & Bodega in January of 2003.  Since then, the winery has been producing high quality wines in Mendoza, Argentina.  CarinaE has 17ha of productive vineyards that are spread between its property of Tres Esquinas in Cruz de Piedra of Maipú, and on the famous Calle Cobos in Perdriel, Luján de Cuyo.  The total wine process, from the management of the vineyards to bottling, is supervised by Michel Rolland’s team in Mendoza, via his consultant firm of Enorolland.

CarinaE Torrontes 2009 – This Torrontes is from the best areas of Cafayate, where the sun and the freshness of the altitude allow excellent ripeness for an optimal expression of the aromas.  Typical of its terroir, tender, supple and elegant, its exuberant nose of exotic fruits will seduce you, and take you away on floral notes that will bewitch your palate.  Ideal for beginning your meal with soft appetizers, or fish or seafood.

CarinaE Malbec 2008 – A red wine of good colour and structure.  All of the aromas, of red fruit and plums typical of the variety are revealed, without exposure to oak.  It is destined to be consumed while still young, although it has an ageing potential of at least 5 years.

CarinaE Malbec Reserva 2007 – The intense colour, concentration and volume of this wine are enhanced by the perfect maturity of the grape.  Its aromas are associated with plums and red fruit, with a touch of vanilla and roundness contributed by the oak.

CarinaE Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva 2006 – Potent wine of a deep colour.  Its complex aromas of red fruit and spices are typical of this noble variety.  They combine with a touch of vanilla contributed by the oak.  This wine preferably accompanies red meats, barbecued or with sauce, as well as all types of cheeses.

CarinaE Cuvée Brigitte 2009 – 72% Malbec, 28% Cabernet Sauvignon.  This assemblage of Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon is crafted with grapes produced in our vineyards. The result is a very elegant wine, round and full, with expressions of ripe fruits, spice box and hints of chocolate and vanilla provided by French barrels.

CarinaE Malbec Finca Deneza 2008 – Exclusively from Finca Deneza – Calle Cobos, Perdriel (Luján de Cuyo), from 85 year old vines.  A highly concentrated wine. It presents aromas of red fruit and plums that combine in perfect harmony with the vanilla and chocolate contributed by the French oak.

CarinaE Malbec Gran Reserva 2007 – This wine was crafted from a meticulous selection of an 85 year old Malbec vineyard, located on Calle Cobos in Lujan de Cuyo; and matured for 15 months in new French barriques.  This wine combines the typical Malbec aromas and flavours of black and red fruits with hints of coffee, toast, chocolate, and vanilla from time spent in the barrel.  The result is a richly fruity wine of structure and elegance.  Only 11 barrels produced (3211 bottles).

“Good full bright ruby. Complex nose melds cassis, blackberry, graphite, licorice, coffee and minerals. Dense, sweet and concentrated, with lovely violet lift to the sweet blackberry and bitter chocolate flavors. This ripe, sexy malbec saturates the palate with flavor. Finishes impressively long and broad, with suave, serious tannins.” 91 points, Stephen Tanzer.

CarinaE Prestige 2007 – This rare wine is a perfect reflection of the terroir of CarinaE.  It is a harmonic convergence of 79% Malbec, 14% Syrah and 7% Cabernet Sauvignon, each picked at optimal ripeness and aged for 15 months in new French oak.  Inky and richly fruited with notes of chocolate and caramel, this wine represents the future direction of the finest wines of Argentina. Only 5900 bottles produced.  90 points Jay Miller, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate.
